Consumer Prices Increased by 0.3% in August 2025
According to the monthly bulletin of the National Institute of Statistics (INS), "Consumer Price Index Base 100 in 2015" for August 2025, consumer prices rose by 0.3% in August 2025 compared to July 2025. The INS attributed this increase mainly to a 1.5% rise in food prices and a 1% increase in the "education services" group. In contrast, clothing prices fell by 4.6% due to summer sales.
1.5% Increase in Food Prices
Regarding food prices, this 1.5% monthly increase is due to the rise in prices of:
- Poultry by 7.7%
- Eggs by 7.2%
- Fresh vegetables by 1.9%
- Fresh fish by 1.9%
- Beef by 1.2%
- Fresh fruits by 1.1%
1% Increase in Education Products and Services
The prices of education products and services increased by 1% over the month, due to:
- A 1.8% rise in pre-elementary and primary education services
- A 1.3% increase in school supplies
4.6% Decrease in Clothing Prices
In contrast, clothing prices decreased by 4.6% in August compared to the previous month, due to the start of the summer sales season. In fact, the prices of clothing items fell by 4.7% and those of shoes by 5.4%.
