CONECT International Works to Promote and Support Foreign Investment in Tunisia
CONECT International aims to promote and support foreign investment in Tunisia, strengthen technical capabilities, develop trade exchanges and technological cooperation, and establish long-term partnerships between Tunisian and foreign companies, said its president, Tarek Chérif. This statement was made during the recent signing of a cooperation agreement between CONECT International and the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIB), on the sidelines of a Tunisian economic mission to Romania. The event was organized in partnership with the Tunisian Embassy in Bucharest, in collaboration with the Romanian Ministry of Economy, CCIB, FIPA, CEPEX, and the Romanian Embassy in Tunisia.
Opportunities for Investment in Tunisia
On this occasion, Tarek Chérif presented the investment opportunities in Tunisia, particularly in the fields of green technologies, renewable energies, digital transition, tourism, agri-food industries, and automotive components. He emphasized that Tunisia's skills and expertise in these sectors make it an important and reliable partner.
Romanian Expertise and Cooperation
Romania, on the other hand, has recognized expertise in several sectors such as science, services, industry, and technology, offering real prospects for cooperation, according to Chérif. The President of CONECT International also stressed the importance of strengthening Tunisian-Romanian cooperation in the coming years, particularly on the markets of Sub-Saharan Africa and North Africa, where Tunisia benefits from a strategic and historical positioning.
Bilateral Cooperation
For his part, the Romanian Minister of Economy, Digitization, Services, and Tourism, Radu-Daniel Miruta, expressed his willingness to develop bilateral cooperation in several sectors, according to the Tunisian Ambassador to Bucharest, Sami Nagga.
Trade Exchanges Between Tunisia and Romania
According to CEPEX data, Romania is Tunisia's 13th customer and 8th supplier among the 27 European Union countries. The volume of trade exchanges between the two countries reached approximately 274 million euros in 2024, compared to 192 million euros in 2019. Tunisian exports to Romania amounted to nearly 91 million euros in 2024, mainly in cereals, machinery, and wood products, while imports reached 183 million euros.
Romanian Companies in Tunisia
Tunisia has 11 active Romanian companies in high-value-added sectors, particularly textiles and the pharmaceutical industry. Four of them have carried out extensions between 2024 and 2025, illustrating a growing interest in the Tunisian market, confirmed by the intensification of prospecting visits over the past two years, according to the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency.
