Gaza City Suffers Total Internet and Communication Blackout for Second Consecutive Day
According to an Al Jazeera correspondent, the city of Gaza is experiencing a total blackout of internet and communication services for the second day in a row. This situation is a result of ongoing Israeli raids that have destroyed the city's infrastructure.
Continuous Disruptions
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Observatory reports that the occupation has carried out more than 12 complete disruptions of communication and internet services since October 7, 2023. The Observatory claims that the goal is to isolate Gaza from the rest of the world and hinder humanitarian aid efforts.
Warning of Imminent Disruption
On September 6, the Observatory had already warned of an "imminent risk of total disruption of communication networks" due to the repeated targeting of residential towers and high-rise buildings. It specified that the consequences of these practices are "catastrophic" on a humanitarian level, as they prevent civilians from communicating in emergency situations and hinder the work of medical teams, humanitarian workers, and journalists.
