Emphasizing the Crucial Importance of Citizens' Health as a Priority Sector
The President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, recently met with the Minister of Health, Moustapha Ferjani, to convey his greetings and tribute to the medical, paramedical, and administrative staff, while highlighting their exceptional skills, dedication, and selflessness.
The Head of State emphasized several key points during this meeting, including the need to provide the best possible services, as the right to health is a fundamental human right, as stated in Article 43 of the Constitution. This article guarantees the state's responsibility for preventing and providing healthcare to all citizens, mobilizing the necessary resources to ensure the security and quality of services, hence the President's urgent call for this right to be accessible to all citizens, regardless of their location.
In this context, the meeting reviewed the upcoming emergence of several hospital facilities and the conditions for launching the remote medical center, which aims to avoid cumbersome travel conditions and enable remote diagnosis and treatment prescriptions. Moreover, despite criticism, Tunisian medicine has a reputation to uphold, as the President of the Republic mentioned, proudly referring to the Tunisian School of Medicine, which is renowned for its performances at the regional and international levels.
This leads us to stress the need to eliminate "intruders" who claim to be part of the medical and paramedical profession but are, in the President's words, ignorant individuals with no connection to the health sector, and who must be combated with determination to preserve the worldwide recognized level of our medicine and the professionals who practice it, just like the fight being waged in all fields as part of the "national liberation war".
It is also essential to ensure that all stakeholders in this field enjoy their full rights, as highlighted by President Kaïs Saïed, who strongly expressed his disapproval of the current legal texts, which have unfortunately contributed to a "totally unacceptable situation".
In conclusion, everything is being put in place to establish an effective healthcare system, thanks to high-quality services and beneficial improvements in human resources and basic infrastructure, for the benefit of all citizens and all regions of Tunisia, without exception.
