Minister of Youth and Sports Chairs Meeting to Combat Violence in Stadiums

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Sadok Mourali, chaired a meeting on Friday at the ministry's headquarters of the joint commission established following a preparatory meeting held in August at the Ministry of Interior. The objective was to discuss concrete measures and administrative and field arrangements to combat violence in stadiums, ensuring the smooth running of the 2025-2026 sports season and preserving public safety.

The meeting resulted in several major decisions, according to a statement published on the ministry's official page:

  • Revision of the disciplinary regulations with strengthened sanctions against sports clubs, which may include point deductions, to be presented at the next university office meeting.
  • Creation of a match management team composed of the referee, observer, general coordinator, and a security officer, responsible for supervising the sporting, logistical, and security organization of matches.
  • Presentation of the status of general coordinators to the relevant ministries.
  • Appeal to club presidents and media to avoid inflammatory statements that may exacerbate tensions.

The Minister emphasized the need to apply strict sanctions and deterrent measures against anyone involved in violent acts, in order to put an end to this phenomenon threatening the safety of individuals and property.

Future meetings will also be organized with the handball and basketball federations to combat violence in sports halls.

The meeting was attended by ministry officials, high-ranking interior security officials, as well as representatives from the Tunisian Football Federation, the National Professional League, and the National Arbitration Administration.
