Tunisian Customs Seize Large Quantities of Contraband Goods

The official spokesperson for the General Directorate of Customs, General Chokri Jebri, confirmed today, Monday, December 8, 2025, that 15,535 cases have been filed as part of the fight against smuggling, up to the end of last November.

During his appearance on National Radio, Jebri specified that significant quantities of smuggled goods have been seized, including:

  • 345,000 cartons of cigarettes
  • 151,000 liters of fuel
  • 359 tons of food products
  • 156,000 automotive spare parts
  • 429,000 cosmetic products

General Chokri Jebri also mentioned that, during the current year, Customs have successfully seized:

  • Over 13 million drug tablets
  • Over 760 kg of cannabis (Indian hemp)
  • Over 80 kg of cocaine

The guest on National Radio emphasized that Customs agents have also seized significant quantities of gold and foreign currencies, including 14 kg of gold in a single operation at Ras Jedir.

Finally, Jebri called on Tunisians to support the efforts of Customs in protecting the national economy by providing information and boycotting goods of unknown origin.
