On the Occasion of the New School and University Year, the President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, Presided Over a Meeting

On the afternoon of September 15, the President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, presided over a meeting attended by Khaled Nouri, Minister of the Interior, and Rachid Amri, Minister of Transport, as well as members of the Higher Council of Education and Teaching: Noureddine Nouri, Minister of Education, Sadok Mourali, Minister of Youth and Sports, Riadh Chaoued, Minister of Employment and Vocational Training, Ahmed Bouhali, Minister of Religious Affairs, Asma Jabri, Minister of Family, Women, Children, and the Elderly, and Amina Srarfi, Minister of Cultural Affairs.

Introduction and Objectives

At the beginning of this meeting, the President emphasized that while awaiting the launch of the Higher Council of Education and Teaching's work in the shortest possible timeframe, it is imperative to fully support the youth and the teaching corps. This approach is based on the deep conviction that reform must be comprehensive, breaking away from apparent reforms that have, in reality, led to the opposite of what was expected. The Higher Council of Education and Teaching was created by the Constitution so that education and teaching are not subject to internal political calculations or foreign dictates. This situation has created victims for whom it is a national duty to find solutions, enabling them to overcome their difficult situation and effectively contribute to the national construction process, of which they are capable.

Education as a Fundamental Right

The President stressed that education is a right for all, just like water and air, and that education and culture are areas of sovereignty. These will shape the new generations, which will take over and protect society from all kinds of deviations. He highlighted the necessity of offering adequate and equitable conditions throughout the country, a mandatory principle under the Constitution until the age of sixteen. However, the deterioration of infrastructure and transportation means has led to an increase in illiteracy, a situation that should not have occurred.

Immediate Action and Intervention

The President of the Republic also emphasized the need to immediately address numerous situations that have accumulated over the decades and for all concerned parties to intervene to overcome all obstacles faced by students, pupils, and the entire educational family. He gave instructions to redouble efforts to facilitate student transportation and to establish security patrols around schools and institutes. The objective is to protect them against all forms of deviation.

Conclusion and National Pride

In conclusion, the President of the Republic reaffirmed that when Tunisians have had the appropriate conditions, they have not only excelled in Tunisia but worldwide. Tunisia is a beacon of creativity and light, he asserted. This statement reflects the President's belief in the potential of the Tunisian people and the importance of education in unlocking this potential.
