Tunisia Launches First Automotive Component Factory with Chinese Group Jetty Automotive Technology

The Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy, Fatma Thabet Chiboub, inaugurated today the first Tunisian factory of the Chinese group Jetty Automotive Technology, specialized in the manufacture of automotive components, in Borj Cédria, Ben Arous governorate. The ceremony was attended by Governor Abdelhamid Boukaddida, high-ranking officials of the group, and key players in the Tunisian industrial sector.

Project Overview

The project, implemented through the subsidiary Jieyi Automotive Technology created in Tunisia in March 2025 with an investment of 24 million dinars, aims to produce high-quality automotive cables and is expected to generate 700 additional jobs from 2026. It is part of the national strategy to promote high-tech industrial sectors and strengthen Tunisian-Chinese economic relations.

Development of the Automotive Sector

Fatma Thabet Chiboub highlighted the role of this initiative in developing the competitiveness of the Tunisian automotive component sector, a field that has recorded an annual growth rate of 12% over the last decade and currently employs nearly 120,000 people across more than 300 companies.

Use of Advanced Technologies

The project relies on the use of advanced technologies, specialized software, and artificial intelligence to improve the industrial value chain and strengthen Tunisia's position as a regional industrial platform in Africa and the Mediterranean. The Jetty Automotive Technology group, which employs over 7,000 people, already provides services to more than 30 international car manufacturers, including BMW, Audi, and BYD, and this new site will contribute to attracting more major investments in Tunisia.
