Esperance Sportive de Tunis Held to a Draw by Stade Malien
Esperance Sportive de Tunis was held to a goalless draw (0-0) by Stade Malien on Saturday evening at the Hamadi Agrébi stadium in Radès, during the first day of the group stage (Group D) of the African Champions League.
After the match, Stade Malien's coach, Njoya Mesack Mauryl, expressed satisfaction with the point earned in Tunisia, estimating that his team had responded with discipline to the intensity of the match. "The match was of a fairly average technical level. Despite the opponent's fervor, we managed to defend well to preserve our clean sheet and end the first half with a scoreless draw," he explained.
He added that the second half followed "the same scenario", highlighting the defensive solidity of his players against one of the continent's top teams. Mauryl estimated that this result, obtained away from home against EST, is "a good sign for the rest of the competition".
