Meeting with the President of the Republic

The President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, received yesterday, September 8, at the Carthage Palace, Ms. Mechkat Salama Khaldi, Minister of Finance, and Mr. Fathi Zouheir Nouri, Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia.

Discussion Topics

During this meeting, the execution of the state budget until the end of the first half of 2025 was discussed, as well as the main guidelines for the budget of the upcoming year.

Key Points

The Head of State emphasized, at the opening of the meeting, the role of the Central Bank of Tunisia in supporting the national economy, as well as that of the Financial Analysis Committee in controlling suspicious operations, given that many indicators reveal significant financial flows outside legal frameworks.

Emphasis on the 2026 Budget

The President of the Republic also stressed that the draft finance law for 2026, currently being developed, must reflect the aspirations of the Tunisian people, particularly in social terms, and not be limited to mere numbers that do not meet their expectations.

Economic Achievements

He also recalled that the policy of self-sufficiency, free from external interference, has made it possible to contain the inflation rate, which has not exceeded 5.2%, to achieve growth exceeding 3% over the past three months, while ensuring the stability of the exchange rate and bringing the strategic stock of foreign currencies to the equivalent of 109 days of imports.
