Tunisian Automotive Market Sees Notable Growth in 2025

The Tunisian automotive market is experiencing significant growth in 2025, particularly in the popular car segment, with sales increasing by 44.3% compared to 2024. According to data from the National Chamber of Automobile Dealers and Manufacturers, 6,611 popular cars were sold by the end of August 2025, compared to 3,678 during the same period in 2024.

In August 2025 alone, 622 units were sold, compared to 275 in August 2024.

A Chinese Brand Leads Sales

Among the seven brands that market this type of vehicle, a Chinese brand stood out with 1,706 units sold, followed by a Japanese brand (1,488), a French brand (1,199), and two South Korean brands, with 1,000 and 970 cars sold, respectively.

The average price of popular cars marketed by authorized dealers ranges from 28,925 dinars to 34,876 dinars.

Overall Market Performance

Overall, the Tunisian market absorbed 61,505 new vehicles during the first eight months of 2025, sold by both authorized dealers and the parallel sector. Authorized dealers recorded 42,082 sales, compared to 34,951 during the same period in 2024, representing a 22% increase. The parallel sector, on the other hand, sold 19,423 vehicles, compared to 14,109 the previous year.

The Parallel Sector Continues to Gain Market Share

The market share of authorized dealers decreased from 71% in August 2024 to 68% by the end of August 2025. In contrast, the parallel sector has progressed, now representing 32% of the market, compared to 29% a year earlier.

This parallel sector includes non-authorized sales points, used vehicle markets, and sales made through tax benefits granted to Tunisians living abroad under the FCR (Franchise for Change of Residence) regime.
