Two Killed and Two Seriously Injured in Leipzig Crowd Crash
Car Plows into Crowd in Eastern Germany, Leaving Two Dead and Two Critically Injured
Local media reported that two people were killed and two others were seriously injured when a car crashed into a crowd in Leipzig, eastern Germany, on Monday.
Leipzig Mayor Burkhard Jung told the Leipziger Volkszeitung that two people lost their lives in the accident. The suspected driver was apprehended, and public safety is no longer at risk.
Two of the injured were in a critical condition and received emergency care on the scene before being transported to nearby hospitals, said Leipzig Fire Chief Axel Schuh. In total, 20 people were affected, he added.
Mayor Jung stated that only a police investigation would determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
