ESPERANCE SPORTIVE DE TUNIS TAKES THIRD PLACE IN CAF'S NEW RANKING
The Esperance Sportive de Tunis (EST) has secured the third spot in the Confederation of African Football's (CAF) updated ranking, covering the past five seasons, following Mamelodi Sundowns' Ligue des champions africaine title win.
According to the ranking, Mamelodi Sundowns lead the pack with 73 points, followed closely by the Egyptian club Al Ahly SC with 66 points. The Esperance Sportive de Tunis completes the podium with a total of 58 points.
This ranking is based on the performances of African clubs over a five-year period and may serve as a reference in the qualification process for the 2029 Club World Cup.
At this stage, two clubs have already secured their qualification for the next edition of the competition: the Egyptian Pyramids FC, winners of the Ligue des champions africaine 2025, and Mamelodi Sundowns, champions in 2026. The remaining two spots are still up for grabs, and the competition remains intense among several top teams on the continent.
