Disappointment for Stadistes as Amado Ndiaye Misses Crucial Opportunity
After giving hope to the Stadistes by converting a penalty, Amado Ndiaye went on to miss a clear scoring opportunity, with the ball hitting the right post. The hope that had emerged was quickly extinguished.
A Difficult Start
The Stadistes began the second half with a two-goal deficit, complicating their task and leaving them with only one option: to go all out on the attack. To achieve this, they had to adopt an all-out attacking strategy. The first attempt by the Stadistes came quickly: a free kick taken by Haboubi near the 16-meter zone, but Werghemmi's follow-up shot was poorly aimed (6').
Seven minutes later, the Bardolais launched another attack: Firas Aifia made a cross from the right, and Moroccan goalkeeper Hamza Hamiani intercepted the ball (13'). Another attempt that lacked a finish. It wasn't until the 34th minute that the first real scoring opportunity arose, resulting in the first corner kick.
A Missed Opportunity
On this corner kick, Ndiaye took advantage of a poor clearance by the Moroccan goalkeeper to unleash a powerful shot, but the ball hit the right post (39'). The game was delayed for five minutes to allow Aifia to be replaced by Smaali after getting injured on this play. The OC Safi goalkeeper, Hamiani, also took advantage of the situation to waste time, as he had been doing since the start of the match. This explains the seven minutes of added time awarded by the referee.
A Glimmer of Hope
In the added time of the first half, the Stadistes created their second scoring opportunity: served behind the defenders, Haboubi's header was deflected into a corner kick (45'+5).
The Second Half
The second half was much more exciting to watch, with many twists and turns. In the 62nd minute, Amadou Ndiaye was fouled by Tarkhatt in the penalty area and was awarded a penalty, which he converted three minutes later (65'). Hope was rekindled for the Stadistes.
However, the same Ndiaye would go on to make a monumental mistake a few minutes later. After being put through on goal by Camara, who had done the hard work to put him one-on-one with the opposing goalkeeper, Ndiaye saw his shot hit the left post (84'). Immediately after, Anass Eddaou drove the nail into the coffin by equalizing for OC Safi (86').
A devastating goal that would crush the Stadistes' hopes. The Bardolais, however, left the CAF Cup with their heads held high, thanks to a winning goal from Skander Seghaier in added time (90'+5).
