No Candidates for Club Presidency as Provisional Committee's Term Ends
The press — Indeed, the elective general assembly, which was scheduled for last July, did not resolve the issue of the presidency. In fact, due to the lack of candidates at that time, the assembly was postponed to the end of September in the hope of receiving an application at the club's secretariat. However, once again, no candidate has come forward.
The president of the provisional committee, Samir Yaâcoub, whose mission is currently expiring, announced last season that he would not run for a new term. This appears to be a well-thought-out decision and does not come as a surprise to anyone.
If he extended his term for a provisional period, it was mainly to clean up the financial situation of the CAB. Paying off the club's debts was his priority! Now, if he insists on leaving, he must have his reasons.
One of the reasons was revealed during an intervention on a radio show, in which he pointed out his detractors, without naming them, who threatened his family after the famous match against CA in Bizerte. However, since things did not go as planned, the plan failed, according to Yaâcoub himself.
This is far from being a peaceful situation... As a result, is this very serious information plausible in the eyes of observers? We will never know the truth if there is no investigation into the matter! It is true that Samir Yaâcoub's tenure as head of the northern club has not been smooth sailing. Managing a professional club today has become extremely difficult due to the demands of supporters. The consequence of this toxic atmosphere in stadiums no longer encourages potential candidates to take on such a responsibility.
These days, a club president has become a rare commodity, hence the trend of provisional committees. However, the timing is not opportune at all. It would have been better to hold on until the end of the last season to leave, rather than now, in the middle of the journey.
This late and premature decision, in both cases, does not serve the interests of the CAB, as this wait in uncertainty disrupts the technical staff and the team. Meanwhile, rumors are circulating! The coming days will shed light on the club's near future.
