Bizerte to Host the Second Edition of its Semi-Marathon on May 10, 2026

On May 10, 2026, Bizerte will welcome the second edition of its semi-marathon, organized by the Running Club Bizerte. Following the historic success of the first edition in June 2025, the organizers are returning with renewed ambition: to consolidate the experience gained, expand the event's reach, and put Bizerte on the map of international major competitions.

This year, 2,500 athletes from several countries will take part, including Tunisians, Algerians, Moroccans, as well as runners from Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, and even India. They will all come together in a spirit of overcoming and sports fraternity. This diversity illustrates the organizers' desire to make the Bizerte semi-marathon an unmissable event beyond national borders.

Four Courses for All Profiles

To allow everyone to experience the event, the program offers:

  • 1 km for children and young beginners
  • 5 km for amateurs and walkers
  • 10 km for confirmed runners
  • 21 km for experienced athletes

This variety of distances reflects the desire to open the competition to all generations and levels.

Lessons Learned from the First Edition

Based on the experience of the first edition, the organizing committee conducted a rigorous self-evaluation to identify areas for improvement. The adjustments made include:

  • Improved management of participant and spectator flows
  • Strengthened security and medical assistance measures
  • Optimization of the course to offer both performance and scenic beauty
  • A more fluid logistics, with redesigned zones for replenishment and welcome

These adjustments demonstrate a clear commitment: to offer athletes and the public a high-quality sports and human experience.

The Semi-Marathon Village: Heart of the Event

A new feature of this edition, a semi-marathon village will be set up at the heart of Bizerte. It will offer:

  • Animation and sports initiation sessions
  • Partner and sponsor stands
  • Spaces for family and spectator conviviality
  • Meetings with athletes and cultural activities
  • This village will transform the event into a true popular festival, where sport and culture come together to celebrate the vitality of Bizerte.

Experienced and Visionary Organizers

At the helm of this project is Dr. Mohamed Gabsi and his team from the Running Club Bizerte, embodying passion and perseverance. Their goal is no longer just to maintain the event, but to inscribe it durably in the international sports calendar. They see the Bizerte semi-marathon as a multidimensional lever:

  • Dynamizing local sports life
  • Promoting Bizerte as a tourist and cultural destination
  • Fostering intercultural exchanges through sport... The Bizerte semi-marathon is no longer just a local initiative: it has become a symbol of sports and social rebirth. By consolidating the gains of the first edition and opening its horizons to the international community, the second edition promises to be a strong moment, where the passion for running converges with the ambition of global reach.
