Large-Scale Operation Uncovers Illegal Salami Factory in Bizerte

Authorities Seize Meat and Salami Products, Take Action Against Owner

A joint operation conducted by the control services of Bizerte has led to the discovery and raid of a clandestine salami factory. The factory, located in an agricultural exploitation in the eastern part of the Bizerte governorate, also had an illegal cold storage warehouse.

Operation Details

The operation was carried out by a combined team from the National Guard, the National Agency for Sanitary Security of Food Products, and the Regional Directorate of Commerce. After obtaining the necessary legal authorizations, agents found a significant quantity of beef and poultry meat, as well as salami, which was seized for destruction.

Violations and Consequences

The owner of the exploitation had converted part of the stable into a transformation workshop, where he illegally stored meat and performed clandestine slaughtering. The owner is facing legal action for multiple offenses, including:

  • Lack of licenses to operate
  • Non-compliance with basic sanitary conditions
  • Possession and transformation of products deemed hazardous to public health
  • Operation of an undeclared location
