Hundreds of Residents Gather in Support of the Soumoud Flotilla in Bizerte
Hundreds of residents from the governorate of Bizerte gathered on Thursday afternoon near the Cap 3000 marina to express their solidarity and support for the Soumoud Flotilla, which arrived in Tunisia as part of its mission to break the blockade imposed on Gaza.
Arrival of the Flotilla
According to the organizers, ten ships from the flotilla have already docked in Bizerte, while the other ten, which departed from the port of Sidi Bou Saïd, are expected to arrive in the coming hours before continuing their journey to Palestine.
Show of Solidarity
Participants of all ages waved Tunisian and Palestinian flags and wore keffiyehs as a symbol of unbreakable fraternity between the two peoples. They hailed the "noble mission" of the flotilla, which aims to convey a message of solidarity and resistance in the face of occupation and the blockade imposed on Gaza.
Historical Significance
Several residents recalled the historic welcome given by Tunisians, particularly those from Bizerte, to Palestinian fighters in August 1982, when the commercial port of Bizerte was transformed into a port of Palestinian brotherhood for a time.
Security Measures
A significant security and logistical deployment was put in place around the port, involving national security services, specialized units, and civil protection to ensure the smooth running of the event.
Organization and Support
Khaled Boujemâa, a member of the organizing committee, emphasized that all necessary arrangements had been made to welcome the flotilla in the best possible conditions before its departure for the occupied Palestinian territories.
Update on the Flotilla's Journey
The organizing body confirmed on its official page that the ships that remained in Sidi Bou Saïd had set sail the previous evening to join the others in Bizerte, where the local population continues to show strong support for the initiative.
