Adoption of Biological Rest Period in the Fishing Sector
The Assembly of the People's Representatives (ARP) adopted, on Wednesday, at the Bardo Palace, additional article No. 109 related to the biological rest period in the fishing sector, as part of the 2026 Finance Law (PLF) project. The text was approved with 76 votes in favor, 26 against, and 13 abstentions.

Adopted during a joint plenary session between the two legislative chambers, dedicated to the continuation of voting on the additional articles of the 2026 PLF, this article provides for the addition of a new paragraph to Article 3 of Law No. 17 of 2009 relating to the biological rest period regime in the fishing sector.
Benefits for Artisanal Fishing Workers
This modification will allow artisanal fishing workers to benefit from aid allocated during the biological rest period, in order to contribute to the financing of compensation related to work accidents and occupational diseases that occur during the exercise of their activity, as well as indemnities due in case of death, drowning, or disappearance at sea.
