Ambassador Bill Bazzi Arrives at Embassy to Strengthen US-Tunisia Relations
Ambassador Bill Bazzi arrived today at the embassy to begin his mission to strengthen relations between the United States and Tunisia. Appointed as the US Ambassador to Tunisia in October 2025, Bill Bazzi previously served as the mayor of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, after being elected in 2021. He also held the position of interim president of the city council prior to that. A former officer in the US Marine Corps, he served for 21 years, completing complex missions and collaborating with diplomats and foreign leaders. His efforts contributed to humanitarian aid programs, counter-terrorism efforts, promotion of democratic governance, and infrastructure reconstruction. His service earned him several awards, including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, among others. In the civilian sector, he worked for two major American companies listed in the Fortune 500: Boeing, where he held the position of quality director and principal auditor, and Ford Motor Company, where he was a product development engineer. In these roles, he worked to improve public safety and economic productivity through regulatory audits and compliance-focused initiatives. Ambassador Bazzi holds a master's degree in aeronautical science and a bachelor's degree in professional aviation from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
