Tozeur Shines Again Under the Sun of Change

At the crossroads of the desert and dreams, the capital of the Djerid region is preparing to experience a season full of hope, where tourism, agriculture, and culture could restore the region's former glory. Between the golden desert and the lush oasis, Tozeur is on the verge of a new era.

As the tourist and agricultural season approaches, full of promises, the capital of the Djerid seems to be reborn, strong in its authenticity, heritage, and the energy of its inhabitants. However, for this renewal to be sustainable, a collective commitment is necessary.

The city of Tozeur seems to be experiencing one of its most beautiful phases since the revolution. A positive transition phase, full of hope for the entire Djerid region. More than ever, the future of Tozeur rests on a simple conviction: we succeed together, or we fail together.

The signs of renewal are visible: a particularly promising tourist season, announcing an influx of national and foreign visitors, a satisfactory agricultural season, offering a breath of hope to local producers. An exceptional autumn and winter climate, positioning Tozeur as one of the most attractive destinations in the world.

It is nicknamed the city of two springs. And on the horizon, festivals and cultural events that could boost the regional economy and enhance its unique heritage.

However, a question remains: why doesn't the governorate, in collaboration with the municipality, implement a comprehensive support plan for tourism and agriculture in Tozeur?

A tour of the city's streets, where we interviewed residents, allowed us to collect their suggestions and complaints. For an overwhelming majority, the solutions exist and only need to be applied: launch a complete cleaning campaign throughout the city and its neighborhoods, restore historical sites such as Ouled El Hadef, Ong Jemel, or the central market, true jewels of local heritage, reorganize the date sales spaces to improve their presentation and image, free the sidewalks for pedestrians, multiply green spaces, and finally develop an urban reforestation program.

The goal is to see Tozeur clean, organized, and welcoming. It's a city that attracts, circulates wealth, improves its services, and restores confidence to its inhabitants. This is the starting point for a true virtuous circle of sustainable development. And on that day, we can say with pride: Tozeur, the capital of the Djerid, the pearl of the Sahara, and a model of excellence on a global scale, deserves to become a global destination. Success is a shared responsibility.
