Several Employees of Tunisian Salt Company Hospitalized After Hunger Strike
Several employees of the Tunisian Salt Company were transferred to the Ben Guerdane Regional Hospital on Friday evening due to a deterioration in their health following a hunger strike.
According to the general secretary of the company's union, Hassan Naji, the workers are observing this protest movement to denounce what they call a "policy of indifference" by management towards their social and professional demands.
The union leader stated that the affected employees did not interrupt their work to ensure the continuity of production, as they believe the company also belongs to them. However, they continue their movement to demand improvements in their social conditions and the payment of unpaid salaries, which exceed four months, he added.
The workers involved were taken care of by the medical teams at the regional hospital, while the situation is being closely monitored on the social and union fronts.
