Health and Religious Authorities Join Forces for Night‑time Health Campaign During Ramadan
In collaboration between the Regional Health Directorate and the Regional Directorate of Religious Affairs of the Ben Arous governorate, and as part of the joint health activities organized under the slogan “Ramadaniat Sahia” (Healthy Ramadan), several major mosques have been hosting night‑time health events since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.
These events consist of:
- Awareness sessions and screenings for diabetes and high blood pressure.
- Nutritional education on healthy eating during Ramadan.
A team of medical and paramedical professionals carried out the night‑time health examinations immediately after the Maghreb prayer (breaking the fast) and the Isha prayer (evening prayer) in the following mosques:
- Et‑Tawba Mosque in Radès
- Abou Bakr Al‑Siddiq Mosque in Hammam‑Lif
- The Jaber neighborhood mosque in Mornag
- Esh‑Chifa Mosque in Ben Arous
The initiative will continue over the coming days in many other mosques across the region.
Objectives of the Program
The Regional Health Directorate of Ben Arous launched this joint program with the Regional Directorate of Religious Affairs to bring health services directly into mosque spaces. The main goals are to:
- Provide free, rapid screenings for diabetes and hypertension to worshippers.
- Offer medical advice on healthy dietary habits during the fasting period.
- Strengthen awareness that promotes a healthy lifestyle and preventive care.
According to statements given to TAP (Tunis Afrique Presse), the Regional Health Director of Ben Arous, Dr. Farhat Zehmoul, emphasized that relocating health services to mosques helps ensure that faithful community members receive timely, accessible care during Ramadan.
