Veterinary Services at the Ben Arous Regional Commission for Agricultural Development (CRDA) Organize Free Rabies Vaccination and Awareness Campaign
The veterinary services of the Ben Arous Regional Commission for Agricultural Development (CRDA) organized a veterinary tent on Sunday, October 19, 2025, dedicated to free rabies vaccination and awareness about the risks associated with this disease, as part of the national prevention campaign launched across the country.
According to Fatma Saïdi, head of the animal production department at the CRDA of Ben Arous, the health coverage rate against rabies has exceeded 45% since the launch of the national free campaign, and is expected to reach nearly 80% by the end of October. "This initiative, supervised by a team of veterinarians and marked by a strong citizen turnout, aims to protect public health by encouraging regular vaccination of domestic animals," she told the TAP agency.
The official added that these local actions help to combat the spread of the virus and reduce the risks to the population, while raising awareness among animal owners about the importance of visiting permanent vaccination centers under the local delegations. In addition to these mobile campaigns, the CRDA of Ben Arous provides the public with four fixed vaccination centers open throughout the week in Hammam Lif, Mégrine, Mhamdia, and Mornag, to facilitate access to this essential service.
This national campaign aims to eradicate animal and human rabies, a disease still present in some rural areas, and to strengthen health protection through an integrated public health approach.
