Earthquake of Magnitude 2.4 Hits Southwest El Maâgoula (Béja Governorate) on September 2, 2025
A tectonic tremor measuring 2.4 on the Richter scale (which goes up to 9) was recorded on Tuesday, 2 September 2025 at 12:10 p.m. local time in the southwest part of the El Maâgoula region (Béja Governorate), according to the National Meteorological Institute (INM).
Epicenter and Preliminary Findings
Preliminary analyses carried out by the INM’s seismic stations place the epicenter at 36.68° latitude and 9.16° longitude. The tremor was felt by residents of the area, the institute added.
