The Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), Fathi Zouheir Nouri, held a series of meetings with representatives of international financial institutions on Thursday, October 16, 2025, on the sidelines of the World Bank (WB) and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Annual Meetings, taking place from October 14 to 18 in Washington.

Meeting with Moody's Representatives

During his meeting with officials from the international rating agency Moody's, the Governor presented an overview of the latest economic and financial developments in Tunisia since the agency's previous evaluation. He highlighted the positive results achieved by the national economy in 2025, according to a statement released on Friday, October 17, 2025, by the BCT.

Fathi Zouheir Nouri emphasized that this improvement reflects the country's intensive national efforts to place Tunisia on a path of sustainable economic growth, stressing the central role of recently adopted policies, which have strengthened economic and financial stability and led to an improvement in the sovereign rating by Fitch, from CCC+ to B- with a stable outlook.

The preparation of Tunisia for the next evaluation by Moody's, scheduled for the first quarter of 2026, was also discussed.

Meeting with International Banks and Financial Institutions

The Governor of the BCT also held a working session with international banks and financial institutions, discussing the evolution of Tunisia's economic and financial indicators over the past few years. He praised the national economy's ability to absorb shocks and maintain sustainable growth, and emphasized the importance of the role of these institutions, particularly those with subsidiaries in Tunisia, in promoting Tunisia's economic performance on international financial markets and strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Meeting with International Investors

Finally, Fathi Zouheir Nouri met with a group of international investors specializing in Tunisian bonds, stating that Tunisia is currently undergoing a phase of economic recovery, as illustrated by the positive results of 2025, and reaffirming that the BCT will continue to coordinate with government authorities to strengthen investor confidence and ensure access to international financial markets.
