Central Bank of Tunisia Announces New 50-Dinar Banknote
The Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) has announced the introduction of a new 50-dinar banknote (type 2022) into circulation, effective September 23, 2025. In a notice addressed to banks and the National Post Office, the BCT specified that this new banknote has legal tender and liberatory power, featuring the same motifs, characteristics, and security elements as the current 50-dinar banknote of the same type, with the following exceptions:
- The issue date: replaced with "25-07-2025" instead of "20-03-2022", and printed in larger characters.
- The signatures: namely, that of the Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia, Mr. Fethi Zouhaier Nouri, and that of the Vice-Governor, Mr. Mourad Abdessalem. According to the BCT's notice, the new 50-dinar banknote (type 2022) will circulate concurrently with other banknotes of the same denomination and type currently in circulation.
