Imed Boukhris, Governor of Tunis, Presides Over Meeting on Bardo Square Redevelopment Project

On the afternoon of Tuesday, December 2, 2025, Imed Boukhris, Governor of Tunis, chaired a working session at the governorate's headquarters. The meeting focused on monitoring the redevelopment project of Bardo Square, which is part of the Rapid Rail Network (RFR) works. Attendees included:

  • Madame Khouloud El Hicheri, First Delegate of the Governorate
  • The Delegate of Bardo
  • The Official in charge of managing the Bardo Municipality and its technical services
  • Regional Directors of Development and Sanitation
  • Representatives from:
    • Tunis Transport Company (Transtu)
    • Tunisian Rapid Rail Network Company
    • National Heritage Institute (INP)
    • Regional Directorates of Equipment, Telecommunications, and Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG)

During the session, discussions and deliberations centered on the progress of the RFR works at Bardo Square and the proposed architectural designs for its redevelopment. In this regard, the Governor emphasized the importance of the project, considering the site's uniqueness and historical and sovereign symbolism.

The Governor stressed the need to ensure that the proposed redevelopment works are in harmony with the site's nature, while providing the desired aesthetic and guaranteeing the required functionality.

It was agreed to establish a technical steering committee for continuous coordination regarding these works. This committee will meet weekly on site to enable rapid resolution of any issues that may arise.
