Tunisia's Cash in Circulation Continues to Rise
According to the "Financial Statements for the Year 2025 and Report of the Auditors" published by the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), the outstanding value of banknotes and coins in circulation has continued its upward trend observed in previous years, with an annual increase of 4282.1 million dinars (MD) to reach 26,876.8 MD at the end of 2025, compared to 22,594.7 MD at the end of 2024.
The report highlights that banknotes continue to be the dominant component of the cash in circulation, representing nearly 98% of the total outstanding value.
Notably, the annual growth rate of cash in circulation has accelerated significantly from one year to the next, reaching 19% between the end of 2024 and the end of 2025, compared to 8.4% between the end of 2023 and the end of 2024.
