Torrential Rains Cause Severe Flooding in Bali, Indonesia

Torrential rains have triggered severe flooding in several regions of the Indonesian island of Bali, resulting in the deaths of at least six people and the evacuation of hundreds of others. The disaster began on Tuesday night, flooding residential areas, main roads, and tourist sites.

The regions of Jembrana and Denpasar were particularly affected. In Jembrana, two deaths were confirmed, and 85 people had to be evacuated. Authorities also reported four deaths in Bali's capital, Denpasar, where two buildings collapsed due to the heavy rainfall.

The intense rains not only caused significant material damage but also disrupted transportation. Access to Bali's international airport was limited, with only trucks able to navigate the roads. Images circulating on social media show main roads completely blocked by floodwaters.

Over 200 rescue workers were deployed to the affected areas to assist those in need and coordinate evacuation efforts. Displaced individuals were relocated to temporary shelters.

Natural disaster management agencies warned that Bali may still experience moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds, urging the population to be vigilant in the face of the risk of sudden flooding and landslides. Other regions of Indonesia, such as East Nusa Tenggara, have also been affected by similar flooding, resulting in deaths and significant damage.
