Second Edition of Baghdad Film Festival: A Tribute to Tunisian Cinema
The second edition of the Baghdad Film Festival, taking place from September 15 to 21, 2025, has chosen the theme "Baghdad, Capital of Arab Tourism 2025," as announced by the National Center for Cinema and Image (CNCI).
Opening Ceremony: A Tribute to Nejib Ayed
The opening ceremony will pay tribute to Tunisian cinema with the screening of a documentary film about the renowned producer Nejib Ayed (1953-2019), followed by the feature film "Silences of the Palace" directed by Moufida Tlatli (1947-2021) in 1994.
Strong Tunisian Presence in the Official Competition
This edition will feature a significant Tunisian presence in the official feature film competition, with the following films:
- "Borj Roumi" by Moncef Dhouib
- "Asfour Jenna" by Mourad Ben Cheikh
- "Backstage" by Tunisian director Afef Ben Mahmoud and Moroccan director Khalil Ben Kailane
Short Film Competition
The official short film competition will include 24 works, including:
- "Bord à bord" by Sahar El Echi
- "Leni Africo" by Marwene Labib
- "Keratin day" by Sami Tlili
- "Soudan souviens-toi" by Hind Meddeb
- "Rehla" (Ça roule) by Jamil Najjar
- "Je te ferai un film" by Amani Jaâfar
Tunisian Cinema in the Spotlight
Tunisian cinema will also be featured in the section dedicated to specialized book dedications, as well as seminars and discussions with the participation of Tunisian, Iraqi, and Arab producers. Tunisian actress Wahida Dridi will be a member of the short film competition jury, chaired by Iraqi film critic Alaa Al-Mofargy, alongside Egyptian actress Dalia El Behery.
