Severe Weather Conditions Worsen in Gaza, Death Toll Rises to 12

Local Palestinian sources have reported a rise in the death toll due to the severe weather conditions and heavy rainfall that have hit the Gaza Strip, with the number of fatalities now standing at 12, including children.

The sources indicated that at least 13 houses have collapsed, with the most recent incidents occurring in the Al-Karama and Sheikh Radwan neighborhoods in Gaza City. Civil defense teams continue to respond to hundreds of calls for help and distress signals.

They specified that more than 27,000 tents of displaced persons have been flooded, swept away by floods, or torn apart by strong winds.

Earlier, local sources had reported that 5 citizens had died and others were injured after a house sheltering displaced persons collapsed in the Bir An-Naaja area of Beit Lahiya, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian news and information agency "Wafa".

The same sources added that two citizens died after a large wall fell on tents of displaced persons in the Arrimel neighborhood, west of Gaza City, early on Friday morning. A young girl died due to extreme cold in Gaza, and an infant died in the Al Shati refugee camp. Another citizen had died yesterday after a wall collapsed in the Al Shati camp.

The severe weather conditions have exacerbated the already dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, with thousands of people affected by the heavy rainfall and strong winds. The civil defense teams and emergency services are working tirelessly to respond to the crisis and provide assistance to those in need.
