Regional Civil Protection Directorate in Béja Organizes Large-Scale Simulation Exercise in Ezzyedin

On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, the Regional Civil Protection Directorate in Béja conducted a large-scale simulation exercise in the locality of Ezzyedin. This operation is part of the preparations for the upcoming summer season, aiming to evaluate the effectiveness and speed of intervention of emergency response teams in the face of forest fire risks.

Objective of the Exercise

The "White Operation" orchestrated in the Ezzyedin area, located on the El Hamrouania road in the Béja Nord delegation, aims to address the climate-related risks associated with the approach of the summer season. According to an official source from the local civil protection, this practical exercise is a direct result of regional prevention plans. The main objective is to enhance the level of coordination and reactivity between the various structures called upon to intervene jointly in natural disasters and large-scale incidents.

Participating Actors

This simulation mobilized a wide range of institutional and operational actors from the region. In addition to civil protection units and national guard brigades, the exercise saw the active participation of teams from the General Directorate of Forests, as well as technical teams from the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) and the National Water and Electricity Distribution Company (SONEDE).

Simulation Scenario

The scenario simulated the outbreak of a violent fire in the heart of a forest area, where units had to deploy their equipment to quickly contain the spread of flames, secure and protect nearby homes and agricultural properties. This allowed for the testing of the speed of execution and effectiveness of agents on the ground.
