Colonel-Major Aymen Ben Brahim Stresses the Need for a Clear Action Plan and Vision for the National Road Safety Strategy

Colonel-Major Aymen Ben Brahim, Head of the North-East Regional Section of the National Road Safety Observatory and Rapporteur of the steering committee for the national multi-sectoral road safety strategy, stated that this strategy requires an action plan and a clear vision. In a phone intervention on National Radio, Colonel-Major Ben Brahim emphasized that this strategy, launched in 2025, aims to reduce by half the number of deaths and serious injuries due to road accidents by 2034. Colonel-Major Aymen Ben Brahim explained that the action plan must include specific objectives in each area and define the role of all stakeholders, such as the Ministries of Equipment, Housing, Health, and Transport, as well as the Civil Protection and municipalities. The head of the North-East Regional Section of the National Road Safety Observatory stressed the need for legislative reform regarding automated control and the use of modern technologies for offense reporting. The Rapporteur of the steering committee for the national multi-sectoral road safety strategy noted that the amendments made to the Highway Code, created in 1999, in 2006 and 2016, were not sufficient. He recalled that the commissions set up for the revision of the laws have completed their work, and these texts are awaiting discussion and approval by the Assembly of the People's Representatives (Parliament) for their implementation.
