African Union Summit: Tunisia Reaffirms its Commitment to Peace and Security on the Continent
As part of Tunisia's participation in the 39th session of the African Union Summit of Heads of State and Government, held on February 14 and 15, 2026, in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, Mr. Mohamed Ali Nafti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, met with Palestinian Prime Minister, Mr. Mohammad Mustafa.
During this meeting, the depth and antiquity of Tunisian-Palestinian historical relations were reaffirmed, as well as the importance of strengthening cooperation in various fields. The Minister also renewed Tunisia's constant position in support of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent and fully sovereign state on the entire Palestinian territory, with Al-Quds Al-Charif as its capital.
For his part, the high-ranking Palestinian official praised Tunisia's position in favor of the Palestinian cause and its permanent support, at both the presidential and popular levels, for the Palestinian people. The Minister also met with the President of the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights, Mr. Idrissa Sow, where the level of cooperation between the Tunisian side and this African structure was highlighted following the presentation of his summary report.
It was also reaffirmed that coordination and positive dialogue would continue on issues within its mandate, according to a comprehensive approach to the human rights system in its various political, economic, social, and cultural dimensions. The Minister also met with Mr. Youssef Al-Kordofani, Executive Director of the African Center of Excellence for Inclusive Markets, which is headquartered in Tunisia. During this meeting, it was reaffirmed that the necessary facilities would be provided to this African center to enable it to play its central role in contributing to the realization of economic integration at the African continental level.
