Reopening of the Ariana Regional Multimedia Library: A Cultural Hub Revitalized
The city of Ariana has witnessed a significant cultural event with the reopening of the Regional Multimedia Library, after approximately one and a half years of closure for renovation and maintenance work.
Inauguration Ceremony
The Minister of Cultural Affairs, Amira Srarfi, inaugurated the library in its new form during a ceremony held this evening, attended by officials from the Ministry of Culture, personalities from the art and culture sectors, and numerous children.
Ms. Srarfi stated that "the maintenance work on the library was not just a formal renovation, but aimed to make it attractive, both in form and content, for all age groups."
Renovation Project
The renovation project included new modern facilities to improve the library's services, such as a multimedia room, as well as the creation of an animation space to host various cultural activities, in addition to equipment for people with specific needs. The minister emphasized that the library is an important cultural hub, attracting over 250,000 visitors per year from different age categories. She also noted that the Ministry's objective through these projects is to encourage and promote reading.
National Reading Championship
In a related context, she specified that the reopening of the library comes just two days before the start of the finals of the National Reading Championship, which will take place next Sunday. These finals will crown the efforts made by all public libraries across the country.
Importance of Reading
Sonia Henchi, Director of the Ariana Regional Multimedia Library, highlighted the crucial importance of books and reading, calling on parents to encourage their children to read, emphasizing that reading and knowledge are the foundation of building society. Awatef Abdellaoui, Regional Delegate for Cultural Affairs in Ariana, told TAP (Tunis Afrique Presse) that the return of the multimedia library is a qualitative addition to the cultural movement. She confirmed that the library's doors, with a maintenance project cost exceeding 1 million dinars, will officially open to the public next Monday to accept subscription requests.
