Less Than Two‑Thirds of Germans Reject the U.S.–Zionist Offensive Against Iran, Survey Shows
A DeutschlandTrend poll commissioned by Germany’s public broadcaster ARD reveals that a majority of the population disapproves of the latest American‑led action against Iran. The same barometer also highlights a growing anxiety about the international situation’s impact on Germany’s security and economy.
Majority Disapproval, Yet Weaker Than for Other Conflicts
- 58 % of respondents consider the attack on Iran unjustified.
- 25 % believe the opposite.
This level of rejection is lower than that recorded for previous U.S. military interventions:
| Conflict | Percentage of Germans Opposing | Year |
|---|---|---|
| U.S. operation in Venezuela (January) | 72 % | 2024 |
| U.S.–U.K. invasion of Iraq | 80 % | 2003 |
Perceived International Threat at an Unprecedented Level
Beyond the judgment on the attack itself, the survey measures a significant decline in the public’s sense of security:
- 77 % (three‑quarters) of respondents view the current international political climate as a direct threat to the German people.
- By comparison, in February 2022, just 54 % felt the same, a few days before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Wider Concerns About the Global Order
- 85 % fear the rise of “the law of the strongest” in international relations.
- 80 % worry about serious disruptions to global trade, especially the risk of a sharp increase in oil prices.
In Germany, the first effects are already visible at the pump, where fuel prices frequently exceed €2 per litre.
