Saharan Depression to Impact Maghreb Climate
A Saharan depression is expected to continue influencing the climate of the Maghreb region, with abundant precipitation anticipated in northern Tunisia and northern Algeria during the last decade of November 2025, according to the Tunisian Observatory of Weather and Climate.
The same source adds that the system is expected to generate heavy rainfall, locally very significant, particularly in northwest Tunisia from November 21 and 22. Most Tunisian governorates, especially in the northern and central regions, will be affected in the coming days.
The precipitation will be accompanied by a significant drop in temperatures, with lows approaching 0°C in the heights of Thala and Kasserine from November 22, and daytime highs not exceeding 6 to 9°C in the western reliefs.
According to forecasts, the rain front will progress towards the center of the Mediterranean, gradually affecting all of Tunisia and northern Algeria with cold and rainy conditions until this weekend.
Europe has also recorded significant snowfall in several countries in recent days, highlighting the intensity of the depression system.
