A novel legislative initiative has been proposed to enhance the well-being of seniors in Tunisia. The bill aims to provide a comprehensive package of social, health, and cultural benefits to alleviate the impact of living costs and ensure a dignified aging process.
Key Provisions of the Bill
- A minimum 30% reduction on public transportation fares for urban, regional, and interurban routes will be granted to seniors. A "Senior's Transportation Card" will be introduced, with its modalities to be regulated by a decree.
- Tunisian retirees living abroad will be eligible for a minimum 30% discount on flights with national airlines (Tunisair) and maritime companies (CTN) during off-peak seasons, subject to criteria to be determined by decree.
- A priority circuit and leisure activities will be reserved for seniors in all public hospitals, ensuring priority access to medical appointments and surgical procedures.
- A minimum 40% reduction on hotel and tourist establishment tariffs will be applied during off-peak seasons, in addition to a minimum 50% discount on tickets to national festivals and official cultural events.

The bill proposes the complete exemption of financial contributions for seniors from all preventive services, early cancer and cardiovascular disease screening within public healthcare structures.
