Rabiia Bilfakira, the chief executive of the Agency for Heritage Enhancement and Cultural Promotion (AMVPPC), said on Wednesday, 4 March 2026 that the combined revenue of museums and archaeological sites for 2025 reached approximately 17 million dinars.

During a telephone interview broadcast on Radio Nationale, Bilfakira added that the total number of visitors to these cultural venues nearly hit two million over the past year.

“We are very pleased with the financial performance and the strong visitor turnout,” she said. “Looking ahead, we expect attendance to rise even further thanks to the new night‑opening program for selected museums and the dynamic rebound of tourist cruise operations.”

Outlook

  • Night openings: The agency plans to extend evening hours at several flagship museums, aiming to attract both local night‑life enthusiasts and international tourists.
  • Tourist cruises: A revitalized cruise schedule along the coastal and river routes is expected to funnel more visitors to waterfront museums and heritage sites.
  • Marketing push: Targeted digital campaigns and partnerships with travel operators will highlight the newly available night‑time experiences.

The AMVPPC remains optimistic that these initiatives will boost both cultural engagement and economic returns for Tunisia’s heritage sector in the coming years.
