Agreement on Rapid Implementation Measures for Diabetes Prevention and Early Detection

During a working session held this Friday, the Minister of Health, Mustafa Ferjani, and representatives of the Tunisian Association of Endocrinology and Diabetology, agreed on a set of rapid implementation measures for the prevention and early detection of diabetes.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, these measures include:

  • Launching a national awareness and prevention plan for type 2 diabetes.
  • Forming a scientific committee to develop a national survey protocol to assess the prevalence of the disease.
  • Creating a national register of diabetic patients for better follow-up and treatment.
  • Scheduling periodic screening and health education campaigns in all governorates.
  • Developing a digital platform to assess the risk level and direct citizens to the nearest health services.

On this occasion, the Minister praised the efforts of doctors and associations, emphasizing that prevention and early detection are a priority to reduce complications and improve public health indicators. He also stressed the need to monitor the implementation of these measures according to a precise schedule.
