Tunisian Justice Reveals Details of Child Sexual Assault Case in Private Nursery

The Tunisian justice system has made public the details of the accusations in the case of sexual assault on a child in a private nursery in the Cité Ennaser.

According to a judicial source cited by the TAP Agency, four men, identified as the main perpetrators, are being prosecuted for several serious charges. They are accused of committing sexual acts on a child under the age of 16, abusing their authority and position, and causing physical and psychological harm to the victim. The men are also accused of habitually mistreating a child under their supervision, as well as kidnapping and relocating a minor under the age of 18 from the place where they were entrusted by their parents, using deceit or trickery.

In addition, four women, owners or managers of the nursery (including the director and two educators), are being prosecuted for participating in the acts attributed to the main perpetrators, as well as for abandoning a child unable to protect themselves in a place that puts them in danger, given their authority and responsibility for their safety.

The judicial source specified that if the accusations are confirmed, the penalties could range up to life imprisonment, including for the women involved in the acts.

This case has raised increased vigilance regarding the safety and protection of children in private establishments in Tunisia, and the justice system is closely following the case to ensure the strict application of the laws.
