Algeria Secures 2026 World Cup Qualification
Algeria has ensured its qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup by defeating Somalia 3-0 in the penultimate matchday of the African qualifiers in Group G. Mohamed Amine Amoura opened the scoring in the 7th minute, before doubling the lead in the 57th minute, while Riyad Mahrez added a goal in the 19th minute.
With this victory, Algeria solidifies its first place in the group with 22 points, an advantage that is now irreversible before the final matchday of qualifying. This marks the fifth time the Fennecs have qualified for the World Cup finals, following their appearances in 1982, 1986, 2010, and 2014.
