Israeli Occupation Forces Block Friday Prayers at Al‑Aqsa Mosque for the Third Consecutive Week of Ramadan

The Israeli occupation authorities have once again prevented Palestinian worshippers from performing the Friday prayer on the third Friday of the holy month of Ramadan at Al‑Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem, extending the site’s closure to a seventh consecutive day, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

In an official statement, the governorate of occupied Jerusalem announced that Israeli forces had declared the Al‑Aqsa Mosque’s esplanade will remain closed to worshippers and that no Friday prayer will be permitted on the premises.

For context, Israeli forces shut the compound last Saturday, forcing worshippers to leave the enclosure and halting the “El‑Isha” (evening) and “Tarawih” prayers throughout Ramadan.

The mosque’s closure comes as the Israeli army also announced new restrictive measures for Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.
