Tunisian MP Ahmed Saïdani Released on Presidential Pardon
On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, Tunisian MP Ahmed Saïdani was released from prison following a special presidential pardon decided by President Kaïs Saïed.
According to his lawyer, Houssem Attia, the parliamentarian left the prison immediately after the decision, as confirmed in a statement to Diwan FM.
This measure comes after Saïdani was sentenced to eight months in prison, a sentence confirmed on appeal, in a case related to accusations of harming others through public communication networks.
The case stemmed from a social media post in which the MP criticized the general situation, according to elements communicated by his defense team.
Saïdani's release is part of a broader presidential pardon granted to 1,374 detainees on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, as reported by Lapresse.tn.
