Weather Alert: Ministry of Agriculture Issues Urgent Recommendations

In response to the deteriorating weather conditions and strong west winds sweeping the country, the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries issued a bulletin of urgent recommendations on Thursday, targeting professionals in the sector.

The ministry urges farmers to secure their farms by consolidating greenhouses and firmly fixing all outdoor equipment. It is also recommended to suspend the use of agricultural machinery during this risky period and to put equipment and livestock in a safe place, avoiding riverbeds and areas exposed to landslides or flooding.

Similar caution is advised for fishermen, who are called upon not to set sail until the weather calms down. The authorities stress the need to firmly moor boats in ports and strictly follow the directives issued by the maritime authorities and the Civil Protection to ensure the safety of people and property.

These precautionary measures follow the forecasts of the National Institute of Meteorology (INM), which announces winds blowing between 60 and 80 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 100 km/h in the north and on the coast. At the same time, sandstorms will reduce visibility in the south of the country, while the sea will be particularly rough, going from a very strong to a violent state in the north.
