Commercial Phosphate Transport Activity Resumes

Commercial phosphate transport activity resumed on Thursday morning, November 20, 2025, along with the passenger train service on the line connecting Tozeur to Tunis. This resumption comes after a halt that lasted since November 11, following a strike by company agents in Gafsa and the Métlaoui region, after the death of their colleague in a phosphate train derailment accident in the Djebel Ettalja area.

The agents had stopped work to demand equipment maintenance, rail repair, and improvement of professional safety devices.

It is worth noting that the train derailment accident, which occurred on Tuesday evening, resulted in the death of the train's assistant conductor, who was trapped in the locomotive after it fell into the ravine. The conductor, on the other hand, was taken to a private clinic in the region for treatment, and his health condition is considered stable.
