Aerospace Component Industry in Tunisia

Approximately 80 companies operating in the aerospace component industry in Tunisia provide around 20,000 jobs, according to information provided by Slim Ferchichi, Director of Metal, Mechanical, and Electrical Industries at the General Directorate of Manufacturing Industries of the Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy.

On National Radio, Mr. Ferchichi indicated that the automotive component industry contributes about 3.5% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), with an annual growth rate of 8%.

The official specified that this sector achieves exports worth 2 billion dinars, adding that the national study for the promotion of industry and innovation aims, among other objectives, to increase the share of manufacturing industries.

Competitiveness Pact for the Aerospace Component Industry

The guest on National Radio emphasized that the Competitiveness Pact for the Aerospace Component Industry is part of the national vision for promoting promising sectors, with the main objective being that Tunisia becomes a platform in this sector.

Mr. Ferchichi mentioned the existence of complete industrial zones dedicated to the manufacture of aerospace components in Mghira, Sousse, and Soliman.

He also highlighted the specific objectives of this Pact, which include increasing the share of manufacturing industries in the GDP to reach 7% by 2030, compared to 3.5% in 2023.

Among the other specific objectives of the Pact are the increase of exports to reach 4 billion dinars by 2030, compared to 2 billion dinars in 2023.

Mr. Ferchichi confirmed that the Pact also aims to create 8,000 specialized jobs.
