TRANSTU CEO Denounces Sabotage After Fatal Metro Accident
The CEO of the Tunis Transportation Company (TRANSTU), Abderraouf Saleh, stated on Friday that the door of metro line 4, which fell on a young man in his twenties resulting in his death, was "deliberately torn off by several passengers". According to Saleh, surveillance camera footage showed that "the door was properly closed from the metro's departure at the depot, its passage through the Barcelona station, the Republic Square, and finally Bab El Khadra, before the group of passengers proceeded to tear it off". During an interview on Jawhara FM, he emphasized that "this voluntary sabotage caused the tragic accident" and called on citizens to "take responsibility and stop manipulating or vandalizing public transportation equipment, which belongs to the entire population". The CEO also condemned the acts of vandalism targeting train and bus seats, describing them as "systematic destruction threatening the continuity of public service". He specified that "TRANSTU has documented all incidents and transmitted them to the security authorities for investigation". As a reminder, the Tunisian capital witnessed a drama on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, in the evening: a young man died after falling from a metro line 4 train between the Bab El Assel and Bab Saadoun stations, heading towards Manouba.
