Date Palm Promotion: From Producer to Consumer
As part of the "Date Month: From Producer to Consumer" initiative, the Interprofessional Group of Dates, under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries, will set up a tent on Habib Bourguiba Avenue in Tunis from November 20 to December 7, 2025. The goal is to offer the best Tunisian dates at prices adapted to the purchasing power of citizens.
Objective
This initiative aims to boost the domestic market and support date producers by providing a platform for them to sell their products while making them accessible to consumers.
Date Production
The Tunisian date production for the 2025/2026 season is estimated at 404,000 tonnes, including:
- 347,000 tonnes of the Deglet Nour variety
- 57,000 tonnes of other varieties
The Tent
The 500m² tent will be located near the Tunis Maritime Station and will host around 40 exhibitors from the Kébili and Tozeur governorates, the main date-producing regions in Tunisia.
Variety of Dates
All types of Deglet Nour will be available, including:
- Arjoune
- Chmroukh
- Beth
- Chbabah As well as other varieties such as:
- Aleg
- Kentichi
- Ternja
- Archeté
Future Plans
The group plans to install similar tents in the city center and several other governorates during Ramadan 2026.
